IT Home reported on November 9 that Wuhan Railway Passenger Service issued an official clarification regarding a viral video claiming a high-speed rail passenger “bought seat Row 19, but the coach only had 17 rows.” According to the announcement, the team immediately conducted an internal investigation.

The incident occurred on November 7 aboard train D3046 from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hankou, operated by the Wuhan passenger crew. The train model was temporarily changed from CRH2B to CRH380AL, which resulted in adjusted seat numbering. As a result, the passenger who purchased Seat B in Row 19 of Coach 4 was unable to locate the original seat. Railway authorities had already notified the traveler via a 12306 text message, explaining that due to the temporary train model adjustment, their seat had been reassigned from Row 19B to Row 17B in the same coach.

The passenger did not fully understand the notification and attempted to find Row 19B on board but found no such row. Train attendants then explained the temporary change and guided the traveler to the newly assigned seat in Row 17B.

Wuhan Railway Passenger Service apologized for the inconvenience and expressed appreciation for public attention and oversight. The department emphasized that it will continue improving service quality to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for all passengers.
