Spain and Switzerland advance to the World Cup finals after securing draws, while Belgium cruise through with a dominant seven-goal victory.

Spain, Belgium and Switzerland secured their places at next year’s FIFA World Cup after the final round of the European qualifiers concluded early Wednesday (Nov 19, Singapore time).

Euro 2024 champions Spain drew 2–2 at home against Turkey but still topped Group E to qualify.
Spain entered the match three points ahead, with Turkey needing an impossible seven-goal win to overtake them.

Olmo put Spain ahead in the 4th minute, but Turkey struck back through Gul (42’) and Ozcan (54’), ending Spain’s perfect defensive record in the campaign.
Oyarzabal equalised in the 62nd minute to preserve Spain’s unbeaten run.

Olmo said afterward: “We wanted to finish with a win and a clean sheet, so it’s a bit bittersweet… but we’re happy to be going to the World Cup.”

Belgium and Wales record big wins

Belgium, semifinalists at the 2018 World Cup, crushed Liechtenstein 7–0 to finish Group J unbeaten with five wins and three draws.
Manchester City winger Doku and Atalanta forward De Ketelaere both scored twice.

Wales also cruised to a 7–1 victory over North Macedonia, with captain Wilson scoring a hat-trick—two penalties and one direct free kick.
Wales finished second, two points behind Belgium, and will head to the playoffs.
North Macedonia also qualified for the playoffs via their Nations League ranking.

Switzerland qualify for sixth straight World Cup

Switzerland sealed qualification after a 1–1 draw away to Kosovo, earning their sixth consecutive World Cup appearance.
As group leaders, only a six-goal defeat would have eliminated them. Vargas scored in the 47th minute before Kosovo equalised, but the draw was enough.
Kosovo advance to the playoffs.
