(Hong Kong, Nov 22)
55-year-old actress Christy Chung remains a well-loved figure in the entertainment industry, known for her striking looks and ageless charm. She has three daughters from previous marriages: 27-year-old Yasmine, 17-year-old Jaden, and 15-year-old Cayla. All three have inherited her beauty and charisma, often drawing public admiration for their star-like presence.
In recent years, Jaden and Cayla have frequently accompanied their mother to public events, impressing many with their natural star aura. Netizens have repeatedly urged them to debut in showbiz, but the three sisters have made it clear that they are not considering entering the entertainment industry for now.
When Christy was recently approached by fans and asked about her daughters’ potential debut, she explained that while she personally wouldn’t mind, she places the girls’ well-being first.
“The pressure is huge nowadays — haters and online bullying can be really harsh,” she said. “I want them to love themselves enough and be strong mentally before facing all that. Many people want them to debut, and honestly, I’d love to see that too. I’d love to have an idol daughter.”
Christy believes online negativity can deeply affect teenagers, so waiting until they are emotionally ready is the right decision.
She shared that although she does discuss the idea of debuting with her daughters, they currently prioritize their studies and have no intention of joining showbiz.
Her concern is not unfounded — Cayla previously reacted emotionally during a livestream when someone questioned her Chinese proficiency, firmly responding in fluent Mandarin: “How could my Chinese be bad? I was born in Beijing! Of course I can speak Chinese. Are you kidding me?”
This incident showed how online comments can impact young people.
Christy remains supportive and patient, saying that only when her daughters become mature enough to handle public scrutiny should they consider entering the industry.
