An Australian man forcibly hugged American singer Ariana Grande in Singapore. As a result, he was deported and banned from entering Singapore again.

A 26-year-old Australian man, Johnson Wen, who suddenly ran onto the red carpet in Sentosa and forcibly hugged American singer Ariana Grande, has been deported from Singapore on November 23. Immigration officials confirmed he is now permanently banned from re-entering the country.

Wen arrived in Singapore on November 11 and two days later attended the premiere of “The Wicked: For Good” at Sentosa. During the event, he crossed the security barrier and rushed toward Grande, grabbing her without permission and causing a commotion before being taken away by police.

On November 17, he attended a virtual court hearing and pleaded guilty to causing public nuisance. He was sentenced to nine days in jail.

Further investigation revealed this was not his first such incident. He previously stormed the stage during Katy Perry’s concert in Sydney and hugged her without consent. Similar behavior occurred at a The Weeknd concert, and he had even slipped into major global sports events such as the World Cup and the Olympics, repeatedly causing security issues.

With the deportation order enforced, Singapore has made it clear he will not be allowed to return.
