According to IT Home on November 24, the 2025 6G Development Conference opened in Beijing, where Zhou Juejia, General Manager of Xiaomi’s Industrial Standards Research Department, delivered a keynote speech titled “6G: Intelligent Connectivity, AI-driven Future.” He outlined Xiaomi’s latest progress in 6G technology and its strategic direction for future development.

Zhou introduced Xiaomi’s research based on five major pillars: air interface optimization, native AI integration, ISAC (Integrated Sensing and Communication), space–air–ground convergence, and multi-terminal fusion.

Air Interface Optimization

He stated that 6G air interface design must balance high performance, reduced power consumption, and lower system complexity, while supporting an even broader range of device types.

Native AI: “AI for Network” & “Network for AI”

Xiaomi proposed a dual-path strategy combining AI for Net and Net for AI, emphasizing that AI must be deeply embedded into 6G system computation, data processing, and model design. Zhou highlighted that real-world field trials will be crucial in pushing 6G toward standardization.

ISAC: Integrated Sensing and Communication

Xiaomi suggested that 6G should natively integrate communication and sensing, improving perception accuracy through combined 3GPP and non-3GPP sensing technologies.

Space–Air–Ground Convergence

Xiaomi showcased its satellite communication prototype platform, capable of connecting devices to satellites without GNSS positioning. This platform will support future 6G satellite communication experiments and standardization work.

Multi-terminal Fusion for the IoT Era

Zhou emphasized that 6G networks must support massive heterogeneous terminals—from smartphones to IoT devices—focusing on ultra-low-power technologies and simplified communication protocols.

Xiaomi Exhibits Two Key 6G Prototypes

  1. AI-Integrated Communication Prototype — Enhances reliability in harsh radio environments by jointly learning channel and content features.
  2. Passive IoT Prototype — Combines wireless charging, object tracking, and positioning to boost asset management efficiency.

Xiaomi’s End-to-End AI Wireless Prototype System was earlier included in the “Top 10 Progress of Beijing 6G Laboratories,” alongside research outcomes from China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom.
