NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang on the Rick Tsai incident: “TSMC’s strength does not rely on any single individual.”

IT Home, November 28 — According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang was asked for the first time about the incident involving former TSMC executive Rick Tsai during an interview today. Huang said he was “not familiar with the details,” but he firmly expressed his support for TSMC, stating:

“TSMC is not built on one person. It is supported by a deep corporate culture and an extensive technological foundation.”

Huang emphasized that TSMC’s technologies are highly sophisticated, involving not only chips, transistors, and process technology, but also operational management and business planning.
“As a company that manufactures chips for the entire world at scale, every part of TSMC’s operations is a form of technology,” he added.

He reiterated his strong confidence in TSMC’s continued growth and stressed that the company should not be reduced to a single individual or isolated event.

When asked about how NVIDIA and TSMC safeguard proprietary information, Huang said:

“TSMC has done an excellent job protecting our sensitive information. We have never had any concerns.”

Huang also highlighted that NVIDIA’s own technology stack is extremely complex, spanning chips, systems, and software, with many types of chips beyond GPUs.
“These technologies are very complex and difficult to truly understand,” he said. “It has taken us 33 years to get to where we are today.”

On talent mobility, Huang admitted that people come and go at NVIDIA, but most employees stay for a long time. He believes NVIDIA’s core technologies are not easily replicated.

He also revealed that he will return to Taiwan next January to attend NVIDIA’s annual year-end banquet. Jokingly, he noted that the most anticipated part — the cash-filled red envelopes — comes entirely from his own pocket:

“The red envelopes keep getting bigger because our employees work hard and make more money for the company. So the boss must work even harder to afford it.”
