(Kuala Lumpur) Asian stocks opened mostly higher this morning, with Bursa Malaysia extending yesterday’s gains. As of 9:16 a.m., the FBM KLCI stood at 1,630.91 points, rising 6.34 points or 0.39%.

The benchmark index opened at 1,627.07 points and quickly moved upward, reclaiming the 1,630 level.

Early market activity recorded 253.44 million shares traded, with a total value of RM195.14 million. Market breadth showed 331 gainers, 165 losers, and 321 counters unchanged.


Loyalty Group & Sunway attract strong buying interest

TJ Setia (Loyalty Group) announced yesterday that it had secured a construction contract worth RM420 million from Sunway Group.

Following the announcement, TJ Setia’s share price surged to 23 sen, hitting limit-up at one point. The stock is currently trading at 22 sen, up 4 sen (22.22%).

Meanwhile, Sunway announced that its subsidiary, Sunway Cochrane, plans to issue up to RM2 billion in Islamic bonds to fund working capital and expansion initiatives.

Sunway’s share price climbed as much as 6 sen to RM5.44 during early trade before easing slightly to RM5.42, still up 4 sen (0.74%).
