Eileen Gu Claims Her First Win of the Season! Triple Match Victory Secures Gold at the Snow Alliance China Stop

On December 6, the Snow League Freestyle Ski Halfpipe China Stop unfolded at Genting Snow Park, and Olympic champion Eileen Gu delivered a commanding return to one of her favorite venues. Across three consecutive 1-on-1 PK battles, Gu swept every matchup 2–0, defeating Canada’s star athlete Cassie Sharpe as well as teammates Li Fanghui and Zhang Kexin to claim her first title of the season.

The Snow League is the world’s first professional skiing league for both snowboard and freeski athletes, adopting a head-to-head format with a best-of-three system.

In the quarterfinals, Gu faced formidable Canadian competitor Cassie Sharpe. Sharpe, a powerhouse in women’s halfpipe, won Olympic gold in 2018 and secured silver in Beijing. Gu opened the showdown with a stellar first run, earning 90 points to take the lead. She followed with another solid performance, scoring 83.7 in the second run to seal a clean 2–0 victory and advance to the semifinals.

Gu then met China’s Li Fanghui in the semifinal round. Continuing her sharp form, she again clinched both runs to book a confident 2–0 win and move into the final.

The championship matchup brought Gu against another Chinese teammate, Zhang Kexin. With her trademark composure, Gu once more dominated the duel, winning both runs and securing another 2–0 triumph to lock in the overall title.

When the competition concluded, Eileen Gu, Zhang Kexin, and Li Fanghui finished as champion, runner-up, and third place respectively in the women’s freestyle ski halfpipe at the Snow League China Stop—marking a powerful season opener for Team China and a golden start to Gu’s new campaign.
