MSI Unveils the World’s First Panther Lake Laptops, Leaving Hands-On Reporters Amazed

Fast Tech News, December 7 — MSI, in collaboration with Intel, recently hosted a closed-door media and creator briefing in New York, offering select guests an early hands-on experience with laptops powered by Intel’s next-generation Panther Lake processors, also known as the Core Ultra 300 series.

Because the event was tailored specifically for creators, MSI showcased its premium Prestige series. These upcoming models are expected to make their official public debut at CES 2026, positioning them as MSI’s next flagship productivity laptops.

The new product lineup spans 13-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch models, all receiving a full upgrade to magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis for a design that is lighter, thinner, and more durable. The laptops also feature OLED displays, with select versions supporting stylus input for creative workflows.

Among them, the 14-inch model takes center stage as the main highlight. It weighs just 1.52 kilograms, representing a dramatic 20% weight reduction compared to the previous generation.

While MSI and Intel are keeping the specific technical specifications and performance figures of Panther Lake under strict confidentiality, journalists who tested the machines on-site were visibly impressed. According to hands-on feedback, Panther Lake feels like a complete refresh compared to Arrow Lake, and a major leap forward over Lunar Lake—delivering substantial gains in overall performance, power efficiency, integrated graphics, and AI computing capabilities. These improvements make the platform particularly well-suited for high-performance ultrathin laptops, and expectations are running high.

There was also curiosity surrounding MSI’s Claw handheld gaming lineup, currently the only series built on Lunar Lake processors. When asked whether it would be upgraded to Panther Lake, MSI remained non-committal—neither confirming nor denying future plans.

As a side note, back in September at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Acer was the first to publicly announce a Swift 16 AI laptop powered by Panther Lake, even with Intel’s official endorsement on site. However, that early preview did not allow attendees any hands-on experience.
