Da Ying leaves a special seat for her late mother at her first concert, tearfully thanking fans for their trust

(Kuala Lumpur, 14th) Malaysian singer-songwriter Da Ying (DIOR), five years into her career, held her first solo concert titled KAMPUNG GIRL Ordinary People on Saturday night at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting. She previously shared that the concert was a gift to her late mother, and she reserved a special seat in the venue in her mother’s honor. While performing emotional songs like “How Have You Been Lately?” and “If That Call Had Gone Through,” she tried to keep her feelings in check, smiling as she told the crowd, “Not bad—I really tried my best to sing it through.” She also explained why she chose Genting, saying it felt “closest to heaven,” and added that she is stepping into a new chapter of life—one she believes her mother would be proud of.

Making her debut on a major concert stage, Da Ying balanced her signature playful humor with heartfelt sincerity. She thanked the version of herself that learned to let go and forgive, expressed gratitude to the mentors and seniors who supported her along the way, and especially acknowledged every fan who made the trip up to Genting. Da Ying also invited musician Elliot Cox—whom she met in London—as the special guest. After they performed “John’s Bar” together, she laughed candidly, “We’ve only met twice—we’re not even that close!” drawing loud laughter from the audience. During her newer tracks “I’m Going Crazy” and “A-Dai,” she surprised fans by stepping off the stage and singing from within the crowd, sparking another wave of excitement. Fans returned the love by holding up banners and singing “We’re Awake for Only Ten-Thousand-Plus Days” for her, leaving her visibly moved as she said she had performed at Genting before but had never seen the venue so full, thanking everyone sincerely.

The concert reportedly drew over 5,200 fans and was completely sold out. Da Ying performed many of her signature songs, prompting massive sing-alongs throughout the night. As the nearly three-hour show neared its end, Da Ying became emotional, thanking everyone who had helped her and saying she finally understood why singers talk so much on stage—because her heart was full.
