Chinese Super League could see another “Paulinho” arrival. Russian Premier League journalist Sergey Ilyev reports that Zhejiang FC is considering activating a €1.5 million buyout clause to sign Chilean international defensive midfielder Nacho. If confirmed, the 26-year-old all-round midfielder would join Korean international Park Jin-seop to form a formidable double pivot for the new season.
Nacho currently plays for Russian side Sochi, making 73 appearances since 2024 with 6 goals and 8 assists. He has also represented Chile four times, making him one of the country’s top active defensive midfielders. According to the report, Zhejiang is eyeing the buyout clause in his contract.
The Chilean midfielder is praised for his defensive skills, stamina, and powerful long-range shots. This season he has already scored 4 goals and assisted once, ranking among the top scorers for his team despite being a defensive midfielder—showing his potential to replicate Paulinho’s CSL success. Paired with Park Jin-seop, Zhejiang’s midfield and defensive line could see a major boost, promising an exciting new season.
However, several CSL clubs are also in the market for a strong defensive midfielder, so Nacho’s final destination is yet to be confirmed.
