On the evening of December 28 in Dubai, Cristiano Ronaldo once again stole the spotlight at the Globe Soccer Awards. The Portuguese superstar was named Middle East Best Player, while also winning Best Goal of the Year and Fans’ Favourite Player, completing an impressive treble on the night.

The 40-year-old forward attended the ceremony alongside his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez. Both opted for elegant black outfits, subtly elevated by dazzling diamonds. Georgina, wearing her long black hair loose, captivated photographers—especially with two enormous diamond rings that instantly became a talking point.

Ronaldo’s acceptance speech quickly sparked headlines across Europe. His words were widely interpreted as a hint at a potential return to European football. “My passion is still very high,” Ronaldo said. “I want to keep playing. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in the Middle East or Europe. If I stay injury-free, I believe I can reach 1,000 career goals.”

Those words were backed by action. Just one day before the ceremony, Ronaldo scored twice for Al Nassr, bringing his goal tally for the year to 40. Remarkably, he has now scored 40 or more goals in 14 different calendar years, with his peak coming in 2013 when he netted 63 goals for club and country combined.

A lighter moment also caught fans’ attention. Sitting in the VIP section, Ronaldo gently nudged Georgina, winked at her, and shared a playful smile—an interaction that quickly went viral, with fans joking that “someone won’t be sleeping tonight.”

Ronaldo and Georgina officially announced their engagement this past summer, after nearly nine years together. According to Ronaldo, the proposal was far from romantic and was encouraged by his daughters. The engagement ring, he admitted, wasn’t even personally selected.

Georgina, however, embraced the moment wholeheartedly. A former luxury boutique assistant, she has never hidden her love for diamonds. In addition to her estimated $5 million engagement ring, she wore another diamond believed to be around 30 carats. In her documentary I Am Georgina, she once said, “I love diamonds—they make me feel confident and radiant,” adding that the 30-carat ring was “just the smallest compensation for the next ten years.”
