49.3% 3PT + 2.18m Wingspan! Jalen Green Returns to Starting Lineup – Rockets Finally Find Their “Cure”

The Houston Rockets may have finally figured it out! After consecutive road losses and criticism of coach Udoka, Jalen Green’s return to the starting lineup has rejuvenated the team. From the season-ending showdown against the Lakers to a 117-100 home win over the Cavaliers, Green has emerged as the crucial fifth man in the Rockets’ offensive and defensive system.

Green had missed 14 games due to an oblique injury and returned on December 22. In 15 games this season, he’s shooting 49.3% from three, standing 2.03m tall with a 2.18m wingspan – a defensive nightmare for opponents.

Offensively, Green stretches the floor, opening lanes for Durant and Sengun, while boosting rebounding and second-chance opportunities. Defensively, he can guard positions 1 through 5, making steals and blocks at will, and alleviating pressure on Amen Thompson, forming a formidable dual-frontline defense.

Importantly, Green energizes the team. His relentless effort inspires teammates; Durant and Sengun’s defense has become more active, and the Rockets’ overall defensive efficiency is back among the league’s best.

Health remains a concern, with 14 games already missed. But when on the court, Green is arguably the Rockets’ ultimate puzzle piece: a two-way forward combining three-point shooting and elite defense. The team’s young roster framework is largely complete, and with continued health, playoff contention looks promising.
