Collar was the club’s longest-serving captain, leading the team from 1960 to 1969. On December 30, Atlético Madrid expressed deep condolences through an official statement.

During his 16-year career at Atlético, Collar made 468 appearances and scored 105 goals. He helped the club secure the 1966 La Liga title, three Copa del Rey trophies (1960, 1961, 1965), and the 1962 European Cup Winners’ Cup. Internationally, Collar represented Spain 16 times between 1955 and 1963, scoring four goals, and featured in the 1962 World Cup match against Brazil.

Atlético Madrid wrote: “The entire Atlético family mourns the loss of Enrique Collar. His name will forever be part of our red-and-white spirit and our memories. Rest in peace.”
