As the first half of the 2025/26 European women’s football season concludes, fans are turning their attention to the winter transfer window. During this period, clubs often adjust their squads by offloading out-of-contract or underutilized players, and bringing in experienced or loaned talents to strengthen their teams for relegation battles or league ambitions.
Whether seeking defensive anchors or additional forwards and wingers, January is the busiest month for scouts, sporting directors, and agents. Preparations, however, often begin well in advance. For example, Tottenham Hotspur Women from the English WSL has secured 20-year-old Norwegian talent Gopsett from Brann Women, officially signing her on January 1 for £370,000. Meanwhile, Birmingham City Women in the Championship signed Japanese player Miyagawa Mado from Sweden’s Hammarby Women.
Winter transfer windows for major European leagues in 2025/26 are as follows: Frauen-Bundesliga (Germany) Jan 1–Feb 2, WSL (England) Jan 1–30, D1 Féminine (France) Jan 1–31, Liga F (Spain) Jan 2–30, Serie A (Italy) Jan 2–Feb 4, Eredivisie (Netherlands) Jan 2–Feb 4, Denmark Jan 1–31, Scotland Jan 1–31, Switzerland Jan 15–Feb 17.
Recently, Jiangsu Women’s player Huo Yuexin trialed in Germany. Could she join the Frauen-Bundesliga this winter? For example, Bayer Leverkusen Women’s schedule for the second half starts with a league match against Berlin United on January 24. Typical winter training includes returning on January 6, a warm-up match on January 10, a training camp in Spain from January 12–19, then back to Germany for league preparation. Participation in such winter training camps is a key indicator of potential signings.
