Li Longji appears in public for the first time after breakup, offers financial help to Wang Qingxia and says he’s not looking for love again.

(Hong Kong, Jan 1) Veteran singer Li Longji recently confirmed to Hong Kong media that his girlfriend, Wang Qingxia, had asked to break up. In an emotional first, he admitted their much-discussed May–December relationship has officially ended, saying, “I understand everything now. I’ve become the third party—wish them happiness.” However, he stressed he was unaware of her situation beforehand and therefore does not believe he needs to apologize to her husband and son.

Li made his first public appearance after the breakup on Dec 31 last year, performing at a New Year’s Eve countdown event. According to Stheadline, he fought back tears when speaking about Wang and continued to defend her despite the split. Asked how he has been feeling, he said he was “fine” and had “let it go,” adding that they are still in contact.

When questioned about whether Wang had apologized, Li said he did not want to discuss her further. He described the separation as amicable and offered his blessings: “To love someone is to hope they’re doing well. Since she has such a good family environment, I wish her happiness.” Responding to those who felt he was treated unfairly, Li said there is no “worth it or not” in relationships, thanked the public for their concern, and expressed hope for closure—saying he does not want the matter repeatedly brought up or to let it continue to escalate.

Li also refuted rumors that he had been scammed out of money and clarified online claims that he had promised Wang “seven floors” of property. He said the “seven floors” referred to an arrangement made for his ex-wife during their divorce, and that parking spaces and other assets also went to his ex-wife. “I never promised Wang seven floors—people shouldn’t misunderstand,” he emphasized.

He added that Wang was not after his money or material possessions. At times, he would leave cash at home for her to use, and would give her money if she wanted to buy something. Asked if he felt his devotion had been misplaced after years together, Li said emotions cannot be controlled: “It comes when it comes, and when it leaves, you can’t stop it.” He admitted both of them were in pain but said what mattered most was that she would be well.

Li recalled that they often spent major holidays together, including spending New Year’s Eve together before she went to prison. The couple did not enjoy big celebrations and preferred a simple life. On comments that Wang had impressive “time management,” Li said no one discovered her family for years, suggesting she must have faced many difficulties. He said he could understand her inner struggle, noting that a parent would not easily leave their child.

Li said the hardest moment was learning about her background. After the situation became public—that she had a husband and a child—he was “extremely saddened.” He concluded by saying he does not want another relationship, hoping instead to live happily in the years ahead. He also said he would help Wang financially within his means, adding, “Money is something outside the body.” He reiterated: “In the end, just live life happily.”
