【TVB Awards 2025】Kenneth Ma tears up on the red carpet while speaking about his late father.

(Hong Kong, Jan 4) Mat Yeung and Samantha Ko walked the red carpet together tonight at TVB’s Anniversary Awards. During interviews, Mat became emotional when speaking about the recent passing of his father. He shared that his father, due to old age, passed away peacefully in his sleep, and said he is coping “okay” for now, though the sense of loss remains.

Mat said he has heard older friends describe passing away in one’s sleep as a blessing, yet he still can’t help thinking, “Could I have spent more time with him?” He revealed that his father would sometimes say, “You have your own family now,” and also worried that Mat might be working too hard. Mat added that he often reassured his father that he wasn’t under much pressure. He also shared that while his father was in hospital, they continued talking, and his father knew he was loved—though Mat naturally wished they could have had more time together.

On family matters, Mat said his father never pressured him to have children, but he reflected that if it happens in the future, “he might have been even happier.” He emphasized how important it is for families to stay together and healthy, and expressed hope that his father is watching over him.

Mat also mentioned he has been busy handling various family matters recently. Having completed his scenes for Airport Diary II, he is now able to focus more on home arrangements. Asked whether he would take time to travel with his mother, Mat said he hopes to plan a family trip, but will decide later, as there are still many details to settle. He added that his black suit for the night was chosen by his wife, Roxanne Tong.

Meanwhile, Samantha Ko appeared in a backless evening gown, saying it was “completely safe” with no risk of wardrobe mishaps. She noted that whether she chooses a sexy look depends on her mood, and said tonight’s outfit reflects her determination to aim for Best Actress—adding, “Give me some time, and one day I’ll make it.”
