(Hong Kong, Jan 3) Speculation surrounding TVB General Manager Eric Tsang has resurfaced in recent days. Although Tsang previously dismissed the resignation rumors during a TVB anniversary event, new claims circulated today (Jan 3) suggesting he may step down from the general manager role and continue working with TVB as an adviser. Reports also claim that tomorrow night’s TVB Anniversary Awards 2025 in Macau will include an added tribute segment to thank Tsang for his contributions, along with the presentation of a “major award” in his honor.

According to Hong Kong media, earlier rumors suggested Tsang might have left as early as last November, and longtime friend Nat Chan was also said to have urged him to “retire.” In an earlier interview at TVB Anniversary Gala 2025, Tsang publicly denied the claims, joking that he would stop someday—but “not now,” adding he had not been “fired.”

However, with the awards ceremony approaching, sources claim TVB has planned a special segment to recognize Tsang’s efforts over the past few years, and there is also talk that veteran singer Alan Tam may appear as a presenter. None of these details have been officially confirmed by TVB.

Separately, reports suggest that if Tsang steps down, he would not fully exit TVB, but would remain involved as a consultant, attending monthly meetings and offering professional input. There are also claims that former RTHK head Li Chai-tong may take on a key role at TVB, with speculation that his mainland connections could help accelerate TVB’s expansion in the China market.

Tsang’s management duties in recent years have reportedly covered major areas such as variety programming, co-productions, and music-related projects, including the planning of large-scale shows.
