(Kuala Lumpur, Jan 5) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced in his New Year address at the Prime Minister’s Department that businesses with annual revenue between RM1 million and RM5 million will be allowed to delay e-invoicing implementation by one year. The announcement weighed on e-invoicing-related stocks, as investors reassessed near-term rollout momentum and potential demand.
The Inland Revenue Board had been set to proceed with the next phase of the e-invoicing programme from January 1 as part of broader tax reforms and the national digitalisation agenda. However, following the extension, market sentiment toward e-invoicing theme plays softened, triggering a pullback across the segment.
ADB (0276) led the decline, falling 4.5 sen or 6.2% to 68.5 sen. Other related counters also eased: IFCAMSC (0023) slipped 0.5 sen or 2.1% to 23.5 sen, PANDA (0290) dropped 1 sen or 4.4% to 21.5 sen, while AGMO (0258) ended flat at 34.5 sen.
ADB’s share price has previously reacted to policy adjustments tied to e-invoicing timelines, with earlier announcements on deferrals, relaxations, or exemptions often prompting investors to turn more cautious on the theme in the short term.
