(Hong Kong, Jan 9) Hong Kong film icon Maggie Cheung has recently been rumored to join the mainland variety show “Ride the Wind 2026” (Cheng Feng 2026). The buzz intensified after claims surfaced that her flight had even been “confirmed,” quickly drawing widespread attention. In response, staff members linked to the broadcaster were contacted, and an initial reaction was given.

In recent days, an alleged invitation list for the upcoming season has been circulating online in China. The “Hong Kong sisters” lineup reportedly includes Maggie Cheung, Joey Meng, Joyce Cheng, “Pomegranate Sister,” and YoYo Mung, with netizens calling it the show’s most star-studded cast to date.

Rumors also suggest the production team has been in contact with Cheung for around six months, traveling to Hong Kong three times for negotiations. Alleged incentives include a “no-elimination pressure” arrangement, a tailor-made jazz-themed stage, and live band accompaniment.

Because Cheung runs an account on Xiaohongshu (RED), large numbers of users flooded her comment section to ask about the reports, but she has not responded. Meanwhile, a viral meme reading “Maggie: the ticket is issued” has continued to fuel the discussion.

When contacted by Yangtse Evening Post, a Mango TV staff member reportedly said they were “not aware of this matter.”

Cheung is widely respected for her acting achievements, yet she has also shown a strong interest in music. Back in 2014, she appeared at music festivals as a rock vocalist, and during the Beijing Strawberry Music Festival, she still went onstage despite strong winds.

Cheung has openly admitted that her performance at the Shanghai Strawberry Music Festival wasn’t perfect. She even joked that she searched online for ways to avoid going off-key—only to find it didn’t fully work. In a lighthearted remark, she said, “I made twenty films and people still called me a pretty face—so please give me twenty chances this time.”

However, after she finished two songs, the organizers reportedly canceled the rest of the set due to safety concerns. Audience members recalled that the wind interrupted her mid-performance, and she only managed to shout, “I don’t want to stop!” before being forced to pause, abruptly breaking the atmosphere on stage.
