WTT Official Announcement: 15 Chinese National Team Players Selected for the WTT Singapore Smash, Led by Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha

On January 10, 2026, the World Table Tennis (WTT) officially released the first batch of invitations for the WTT Singapore Smash in February. All of the world’s current top-10 players are included, and China has secured a major presence with eight world champions plus seven additional squad members receiving invitations. This year’s WTT Singapore Smash is scheduled to begin on February 19, which falls on the third day of the Lunar New Year. As China’s first major outing of the new lunar year, the event is naturally drawing enormous attention. With its elite status—offering 2,000 ranking points to the champion, on par with the Olympics and the World Championships—every association is treating Singapore as a top priority, and China is no exception.

According to WTT’s official announcement, China currently has 15 players qualified for the tournament. The men’s side features seven entrants: Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Liang Jingkun, Xiang Peng, Chen Yuanyu, Zhou Qihao, and Chen Junsong. The women’s lineup includes eight players: Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, Kuai Man, Chen Xingtong, Wang Yidi, Chen Yi, Shi Xunyao, and He Zhuojia. It’s a deep and powerful roster that underlines the team’s ambitions in Singapore.

China won’t be the only heavyweight presence. Other top-ranked stars from around the world have also been named in the initial invitation list, including Japan’s Harimoto siblings, France’s Lebrun brothers, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, Sweden’s Truls Möregårdh, Japan’s Matsushima Terukazu, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-Ju, Japan’s Hina Hayata and Mima Ito, as well as Zhu Yuling. With this level of talent confirmed, the competition is expected to be intense from the very first round.

Unlike smaller top-tier events such as WTT Champions, the WTT Smash series is massive in scale. The singles main draw alone offers 128 spots—split evenly between men and women—alongside a large pool of qualifiers. The tournament also features men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, creating opportunities for lower-ranked players to break through. That larger format often produces surprise runs, and dark horses are never out of the question.

Looking ahead, China’s schedule for early 2026 has already taken shape, with six events on the calendar: WTT Doha Champions, WTT Doha Star Contender, WTT Muscat Contender, WTT Doha Feeder, the Asian Cup in Haikou, and the WTT Singapore Smash. The first stop is already more than halfway completed—China sent 10 players, with six reaching the quarterfinals—and the campaign is set to conclude on January 11.

As for player availability, Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha will miss the four January events, while key names such as Wang Manyu are currently competing at WTT Doha Champions. Participation in the remaining January tournaments will be selective. In February, however, China is widely expected to field a star-studded lineup at both the Haikou Asian Cup and the WTT Singapore Smash—raising expectations for a strong start to the new year and more standout results on the biggest stages.
