(Kuala Lumpur, Feb 16) FGV Holdings (FGV, delisted) announced that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has officially lifted its export restrictions, allowing the company’s palm oil and related products to re-enter the U.S. market.

In a statement, FGV said that as long as it complies with all applicable U.S. laws and regulations, its products—as well as those of its subsidiaries and associates—are now permitted to resume access to the U.S. market.

ESG progress recognized internationally

FGV Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Fahrul Nizam Osman described the lifting of the Withhold Release Order (WRO) as a major milestone, reflecting international regulatory recognition of the company’s improvements in labor governance, human rights safeguards, and sustainable operations.

He said FGV has implemented ongoing operational reforms to strengthen labor systems, protect human rights, and embed sustainability across the business—demonstrating that responsible and compliant practices can meet global standards and sustain access to key markets such as the United States.

To eliminate risks related to forced labor or child labor, he added that FGV rolled out a comprehensive action plan, including tighter foreign worker recruitment controls and full reimbursement of recruitment fees to 23,461 current and former employees.

Improving worker welfare and living conditions

On living conditions, FGV completed upgrades to 2,520 workers’ housing units and built 1,002 new rooms. It also upgraded 27 water treatment plants and installed 1,193 water filtration units to improve access to clean drinking water.

FGV further expanded network infrastructure across 165 operating sites and introduced digital monitoring systems to strengthen labor standards compliance.

On grievance and rights protection, the company established a grievance management committee and third-party reporting channels, and set up “Harmony Communication Committees” at estate level to enhance worker participation and voice. It also strengthened engagement with the National Union of Plantation Workers to promote freedom of association, union participation, and labor rights.

FGV said it will continue working with its teams and partners to create long-term, sustainable value for employees, business partners, communities, and the broader palm oil industry.
