Trump has proposed a “Gaza Board of Peace,” and China has confirmed it received an invitation to join.

(Beijing, Jan 20) China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Tuesday that it has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join a proposed “Peace Committee,” though it has not indicated whether Beijing will accept.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China had received the invitation, but did not elaborate on the government’s position.

According to media reports, the committee was initially intended to oversee reconstruction efforts in war-torn Gaza. However, its stated mandate does not appear to be strictly limited to the occupied Palestinian territories and could extend to other international issues.

The United States has reportedly invited several leaders to participate, with Trump expected to serve as chair of the committee.

Commenting on China-U.S. relations, Guo said that despite tariff increases linked to trade tensions over the past year, bilateral ties have remained generally stable.

He added that cooperation benefits both countries, while confrontation is harmful to both sides.
