ITHome reported on January 24 that leaker yeux1122 shared a post on January 23 claiming that, despite surging NAND flash and DRAM memory costs putting upward pricing pressure on premium smartphones, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e is expected to keep its price in line with the iPhone 16e (starting at RMB 4,499 in China). The source even suggests a potential price cut is not off the table.

According to the same report, the iPhone 17e will carry over a significant amount of the iPhone 16e’s mature hardware stack—most notably Apple’s in-house C1 5G modem. Compared with purchasing modem chips from Qualcomm, this self-developed baseband (which reportedly debuted on the iPhone 16e) is expected to reduce cost by around US$10 per device.

On the design front, the iPhone 17e is said to move from the previous generation’s notch display to a Dynamic Island-style layout. In terms of performance, it is expected to feature the same A19 chip as the standard iPhone 17. For the display, Apple is rumored to use an LTPS OLED panel rather than the more expensive LTPO technology found in higher-end models.

ITHome also noted that the source provided an accompanying infographic with these details.
