(Seoul, Jan 23) Former BIGBANG member Seungri, who left the group and stepped away from the entertainment industry after multiple criminal convictions related to gambling and mediation of prostitution, has sparked fresh controversy following claims about his recent activities in Cambodia.
A YouTube video uploaded on the 19th cited allegations from journalist Oh Hyuk-jin, who claimed Seungri has been frequently associating with individuals linked to money laundering, phone scams, and casino-related circles. The video further suggested he may be using Cambodia as a base while attempting to pursue a new entertainment venture described online as “Burning Sun 2.0.”
The journalist also claimed Seungri reportedly moves between Cambodia and Thailand and is not entirely absent from South Korea, though the frequency of his return is unclear.
Separately, clips circulating online show Seungri appearing at a nightlife-related event in Cambodia, where he made upbeat comments about the country and mentioned the idea of bringing other celebrities there—statements that drew criticism. Viewers also pointed out logos reading “Prince Brewing” and “Prince Holdings” in the background of certain footage, prompting online speculation and renewed debate.
At this time, however, there is no confirmed official evidence of a direct business relationship between Seungri and the entities referenced in the clips. The current controversy is largely driven by reported claims and online interpretation, and the details remain unverified.
