On January 25, Yu Hao, founder of Dreame, posted on Weibo that the company rewards top-performing employees by sending them on a trip to Antarctica. Yu said that ten outstanding employees have already arrived and will soon continue their journey toward the South Pole.

Explaining why Antarctica—and why the Pole itself—Yu wrote: “Because we want to go to the farthest place.” He also responded to comments accusing him of “riding a trend,” stating that traveling to Antarctica, especially planning a route to the South Pole, requires at least half a year of preparation and is not something that can be arranged on short notice. According to him, the trip had been planned long in advance.

In a separate post, Yu added that Dreame’s annual company gathering this year may be turned into a concert experience, describing it as a “new-style” event that breaks from tradition. He also addressed various online claims about working conditions at Dreame, saying many of the accusations are exaggerated or taken out of context. He argued that if the company truly treated employees poorly, people would simply leave.

Yu concluded that he knows, within the company’s capabilities, he has made a sincere effort to treat employees well.
