(KUALA LUMPUR, 23rd) Asian markets opened mostly higher this morning, but Malaysian equities moved lower in contrast. As of 9:20 a.m., the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI stood at 1,714.21 points, down 2.93 points or 0.17%.

The benchmark opened lower at 1,715.84 and traded in a narrow range, last seen at 1,714.21.

Early trading volume reached 312.91 million shares with turnover of RM194.83 million. Market breadth showed 221 gainers, 227 decliners, and 369 counters unchanged.

AHEALTH privatization near completion

Several companies have exited the market for various reasons since the start of the year, with Apex Healthcare (AHEALTH, 7090, Main Market Healthcare) the latest confirmed delisting. As its privatization nears completion, the stock is set to be officially delisted next Tuesday (27th).

Pharmora Investment Holdings and Apex Healthcare’s major shareholder—who is also its chairman and CEO, Sik Keok Cheng—announced on Nov 28 last year a proposal to privatize the company at RM2.64 per share. Pharmora’s stake in AHEALTH reached 95.43% on Jan 5. With the exercise nearing its final stage, AHEALTH has been suspended since last Tuesday (13th).

BWYS land disposal and acquisition

Separately, BWYS Group (BWYS, 0313, ACE Market) announced yesterday that it will dispose of a piece of land in Kuala Langat, Selangor for RM67 million, and acquire another parcel in Kuala Langat for RM95.4 million.

The company said the disposal would unlock value and strengthen its financial position, while the acquisition aligns with long-term operations and expansion plans by providing capacity for future development. Despite the announcement, BWYS fell 0.5 sen or 2.44% to 20 sen this morning.
