(Jakarta, 25th) The Indonesia Masters (Super 500) mixed doubles final took place today, featuring Malaysia’s world No. 4 pair Chen Tang Jie / Toh Ee Wei—known as the “Jie-Wei” combination—against Denmark’s world No. 10 duo Mathias Christiansen / Alexandra Boje. The two pairs had met three times previously, with the Malaysians holding a slight edge at 2–1.
In the opening game, the Danes struck first to lead 3–1. The Malaysians clawed back to 4–4 and 6–6, but Denmark responded with a 4–0 run to pull ahead 10–6, extending the gap to 13–7 soon after. Although Chen/Toh narrowed the deficit to 14–19, Denmark reached game point at 20–14 and sealed the first game 21–15.
The second game remained tight early on. After 3–3, Denmark edged in front at 6–4 before the Malaysians reeled off three straight points to move ahead 7–6. The score stayed level from 7–7 to 10–10, but Denmark regained control at 12–10. Chen/Toh then produced a crucial 6–0 streak to surge to 16–12. Denmark mounted a late comeback from 13–18 to 16–18, yet the Malaysians held firm, reaching game point at 20–16 and taking the game 21–17.
In the decider, both pairs were locked at 4–4 before Chen/Toh broke away to lead 6–4. Momentum shifted decisively as the Malaysians stormed through a 6–0 run to make it 12–5. Denmark closed to 10–13 after a brief rally, but Chen/Toh answered with three straight points to stretch the lead to 16–10, then finished strongly with a 5–0 burst to close out the match 21–11.
Chen Tang Jie / Toh Ee Wei completed the comeback with a 15–21, 21–17, 21–11 victory, claiming their first title of the year and becoming the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to win the Indonesia Masters.
