On February 2, the Hangzhou International Innovation Center of Zhejiang University unveiled Bolt, a full-size humanoid robot with a peak speed of 10 meters per second. This milestone marks a major breakthrough in China’s high-speed humanoid robot motion and control technologies. Standing 175 cm tall and weighing 75 kg, Bolt is the world’s first full-size humanoid robot to reach a peak speed of 10 m/s, designed as a foundation for approaching human-level athletic performance.
Driven by advances in artificial intelligence, China’s humanoid robot industry has expanded rapidly. By 2025, the number of domestic manufacturers exceeded 140, with more than 330 humanoid robot models released. The industry widely regards 2025 as the first year of large-scale humanoid robot production.
During the 2025 Spring Festival Gala, 16 H1 humanoid robots developed by Unitree Robotics performed alongside human dancers in the show Yang BOT, executing complex movements such as handkerchief tossing and catching. The performance quickly captured nationwide attention.
On April 19, 2025, the world’s first humanoid robot half marathon was held in Beijing E-Town. The full-size humanoid robot Tiangong Ultra won the race with a time of 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds, setting a new world record.
China’s humanoid robots are now able to stand steadily, walk reliably, and run at high speed, accelerating their transition from stage performances and competitions to real-world applications in homes and factories.
