“The Night King” charges into the Lunar New Year season! Sammi Cheng joins director Ng Wai Lun, Fish Liew and Wong Kit Kei in Malaysia on Feb 11 to promote the film.

Chinese New Year blockbuster Night King, starring Hong Kong comedy icon Wong Tze Wah and Cantopop superstar Sammi Cheng, is set to hit cinemas on February 16 (Chinese New Year’s Eve). Since the release date was announced, the film has remained a hot topic—and the biggest surprise for Malaysian fans is that Sammi Cheng will be visiting Malaysia in person to build early momentum and celebrate the festive season with local audiences.

Cheng plays the powerful “Sister V” in the film, and she will be joined by cast members Fish Liew and Jessie Chung for the Malaysia promotional tour.

Set in 2012, the story follows the fate of “Dong Ri Nightclub” in Tsim Sha Tsui as it faces a takeover. Amid industry changes and shifting times, nightclub manager “Foon Gor” (Wong Tze Wah) is forced to reunite with his ex-wife—CEO “Sister V” (Sammi Cheng), who returns to take control. When they uncover a scheme linked to a major conglomerate, they rally their PR team for one final counterattack, determined to defend their neon-lit territory.

This marks the first time Wong Tze Wah and Sammi Cheng team up for the CNY box office season. Playing a love-hate pair with unresolved history, the duo promises a high-energy mix of style, laughs, and drama for festive moviegoers.

To give Malaysian fans a head start on the excitement, director Jack Ng will appear alongside Sammi Cheng, Fish Liew, and Jessie Chung at a public fan meet on Wednesday, February 11, at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, officially kicking off the film’s Malaysia promotions. The event will feature behind-the-scenes stories, fan interaction, and an early festive celebration ahead of the film’s release.
