(San Francisco, Feb 6) Anthropic, a high-profile U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) startup, on Thursday (5th local time) released a new version of what it describes as its most powerful AI model to date, with a focus on financial research tasks.

Following reports of the release, shares of several financial services and data-related firms declined. U.S. financial data company FactSet at one point slid as much as 10.5%, while S&P Global and Moody’s also saw notable drops.

The model, named Claude Opus 4.6, can review corporate data, regulatory filings, and market information, then produce detailed financial analysis reports—work that typically takes humans days to complete.

Claude Opus 4.6 is also expected to enhance other office-related capabilities, including building spreadsheets and presentations, as well as supporting software development.

Previously, Anthropic’s rollout of tools for legal services had raised concerns that established software business models could be disrupted, weighing on software stocks.
