Jordan Chan Attends a Major Meeting Under His Real Name — His “True Identity” Reveal and Serious Look Trend Online

(Guangdong, 9) Hong Kong star Jordan Chan, 58, has shifted much of his career focus to mainland China in recent years. Beyond frequent appearances on variety shows, he has also held a long-running public role as a member of the Huizhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
At a recent session of the 13th Huizhou CPPCC Committee (5th meeting), Chan attended as a committee member. Photos from the venue quickly went viral online—not because of what he said, but because his nameplate revealed his legal name, “Chan Tai-kyun” (陳泰銓), sparking widespread discussion and trending on Weibo.
In circulating clips and images, Chan appears in a black suit, speaking seriously and attentively—quite different from his usual on-screen persona. Yet the spotlight largely stayed on the nameplate bearing “陳泰銓.”
Reports note that Chan’s ancestral hometown is Huiyang, Huizhou, Guangdong, and he has served as a specially appointed CPPCC member since 2014. During the meeting, he reportedly proposed developing “performing arts + cultural tourism” projects to make local attractions more youth-oriented and appealing. Netizens also found humor in the contrast between the refined-sounding “Chan Tai-kyun” and Chan’s well-known stage name and iconic “Chicken” character from the Young and Dangerous series.
