(Kuala Lumpur, 10th) Zhang Yimou’s latest film Silent Awakening (Jingzhe Wusheng) will open on Lunar New Year’s Day across about 90 cinemas in Malaysia. The cast includes Jackson Yee and Zhu Yilong leading, with Song Jia leading, and Lei Jiayin, Yang Mi, and Lin Boyang starring. Zhang Yi makes a special appearance, while Liu Shishi and Liu Yaowen appear as guest stars. The film was developed under guidance from China’s Ministry of State Security and is billed as a first in focusing on contemporary national security.

The story follows a leak of classified next-generation fighter jet information, prompting an urgent counter-espionage operation. The trailer teases fast-paced arrests, hand-to-hand combat, gunfights, and drone pursuits, layered with suspense around trust and betrayal.

Distributed in Southeast Asia by mm2 Entertainment and Amicom Consulting (HK), with Mega Film Distribution and Infinity Pictures handling Malaysia.
