(New York, 11th) Coca-Cola said it will retain 100% ownership of the UK coffee chain Costa Coffee, while reviewing the brand’s tough operating conditions in China, alongside its latest quarterly earnings release.

Coca-Cola acquired Costa in 2018 for about US$5 billion and had previously considered third-party offers. CFO John Murphy stated the company has no plans other than improving operations, noting Costa is performing well in some core markets, but challenges in China have been “greater than expected,” with no decision yet on next steps there.

For the latest quarter, net profit rose 3.46% year-on-year to US$2.271 billion. EPS was US$0.53, while comparable EPS came in at US$0.58, slightly above estimates. Revenue increased 2.41% to US$11.822 billion, below expectations. Full-year net profit climbed 23.29% to US$13.107 billion, and the company guided for 7%–8% growth in comparable EPS this year.
