A €250 million offer — and still, Barcelona did not hesitate.

According to renowned transfer journalist Romano, Paris Saint-Germain made a staggering €250 million bid in early 2024 to sign Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. At the time, Euro 2024 had yet to begin, and Yamal had not fully showcased his brilliance on the international stage — yet PSG were ready to invest in the future.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta later confirmed the existence of the offer. Despite the club’s well-documented financial struggles in recent years, the Catalan giants rejected the proposal immediately, refusing even to enter negotiations.
For Barcelona, Yamal represents far more than a promising asset. He embodies the club’s identity, its youth philosophy, and its long-term vision. Selling him might have eased financial pressure in the short term, but at the potential cost of sacrificing a generational cornerstone.
Had the deal gone through, it would have shattered the all-time transfer record — currently held by PSG’s €222 million signing of Neymar from Barcelona in 2017. History nearly repeated itself — but this time, Barça stood firm.
