Tragedy: 20-Year-Old Italian Footballer Fatally Jumps into Sea After Assaulting Mother

Shocking news has emerged from the world of football. According to the UK’s The Sun, 20-year-old Italian footballer Riccardo Mercuri fatally jumped into the sea following a violent altercation with his mother on his birthday.

Riccardo played for local amateur club ASD Montemilone Pollenza. Last Friday, he celebrated his 20th birthday with a small family dinner. After the meal, his father stepped out for a smoke, leaving Riccardo alone with his mother.

During the evening, a heated argument escalated into physical violence. Riccardo reportedly struck his 53-year-old mother multiple times, particularly targeting her face. Believing he had fatally injured her, he left the home without taking his phone.

His father returned home to find the mother unconscious and covered in blood. She was rushed to hospital and remains under medically induced coma, but is now out of life-threatening danger.

Meanwhile, Riccardo drove to the seaside late at night and jumped into the water. He initially resurfaced and returned to shore, only to jump again into deeper waters, where he tragically drowned. After a 38-hour search, authorities recovered his body on Sunday. Forensic examination confirmed death due to drowning and hypothermia.

Media reports indicate Riccardo’s parents are of Albanian descent; his father runs a construction business and his mother owns a beauty salon. The exact cause of the dispute remains undisclosed.
