FIBA World Cup Qualifiers: Day 1 Best Five – Hu Jinqiu Leads with 20+12, Naturalized Player from Chinese Taipei Included

FIBA announced the Best Five lineup for the first day of the second window of World Cup qualifiers. China’s forward Hu Jinqiu led the team with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Also selected were Chinese Taipei’s naturalized center Brandon Gilbeck, Australian duo Tanner Krebs and Tom Wilson, and Guam’s guard BJ Freeman.

Hu Jinqiu, China
In a dramatic comeback against Japan in Okinawa, Hu was pivotal. He shot 9 of 10 for 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and posted a +29 efficiency rating, stabilizing the team when trailing by 15 points and helping secure the win.

Brandon Gilbeck, Chinese Taipei
Gilbeck played a key role in Chinese Taipei’s historic victory over South Korea. He recorded 18 points, 15 rebounds, 1 steal, and 3 blocks, finishing with a +34 efficiency rating.

Tanner Krebs & Tom Wilson, Australia
Krebs, 30, scored 28 points in his first appearance for Australia, helping the team remain undefeated in the qualifiers. Wilson contributed 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists, nearly achieving a triple-double, with a +22 efficiency rating.

BJ Freeman, Guam
Despite Guam losing to Australia, Freeman shone with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals, highlighting his standout performance.
