Sunken cheeks and visible veins spark concern as 65-year-old Ng Ting Yip’s drastic weight loss reveals health condition

(Hong Kong, 22nd) Veteran actor Ng Ting-yip, 65, has raised concerns among fans after appearing noticeably thinner in recent years. In a recent video update, he revealed that he has been suffering from gastroenteritis, leading to frequent diarrhea and significant weight loss.

Ng has been actively sharing updates on Douyin, where his latest video shows a visibly slimmer appearance, with sunken cheeks and a fatigued expression. Prominent veins on his neck were also noticeable. He shared that for three consecutive days, he has only been able to eat light foods such as millet porridge, steamed buns, plain congee, and rice rolls. “Because of gastroenteritis, I’ve lost a lot of weight—it feels like I’m dieting, even though I’m already this thin,” he said.

He later posted another clip of himself having afternoon tea. Wearing a black baseball cap, he appeared slightly weak while speaking, prompting many fans to express concern over his health in the comments.

Ng Ting-yip graduated from TVB’s 11th Artist Training Class in 1982, alongside notable classmates such as Tony Leung, Stephen Chow, and Francis Ng. He later built his career with ATV, taking on numerous memorable roles. One of his most iconic performances was as the stoic yet tender vampire Domoto Ken in My Date with a Vampire, where his on-screen pairing with Joey Meng remains a fan favorite to this day. In 2019, he returned to TVB for The Defected, portraying a commanding “Big Boss” camp leader, earning critical acclaim.

Known in the industry for his filial devotion, Ng once moved to mainland China for career development after leaving ATV. In recent years, he returned to Hong Kong to care for his elderly mother, even relocating from a mid-level residence to public housing in Wong Tai Sin, reflecting his strong family values.
