(Beijing, 22nd) Chinese singer and actress Meng Jia, a former member of K-pop group miss A, has enjoyed a renewed career peak following her appearance on Sisters Who Make Waves. Recently, she was invited to attend the Spring/Summer runway show hosted by renowned Chinese fashion brand Gaia Legend on the 20th. However, what was meant to be a glamorous fashion event unexpectedly turned into an awkward incident, as reports emerged that the invited artist was unable to enter the venue.
Just a day earlier, the brand had publicly praised Meng Jia as a “brilliant dance performer” and invited her as a special guest singer for the show, raising expectations for her appearance.
Yet on the day of the event, things took an unexpected turn. At 3:42 PM, shortly after the show began, Meng Jia took to Weibo to share her experience, expressing frustration with a hint of self-deprecating humor. She wrote, “It must be that I’m not good enough or not standing high enough. The brand invited me to the show but left me backstage. When the show started, security wouldn’t let me in. I’ll keep working hard.”
According to reports, Meng Jia arrived on time and had already entered the backstage area. However, when attempting to access the show venue, she was reportedly stopped by security due to a communication breakdown, leaving the “special guest” unable to attend the show itself.
The incident quickly sparked backlash online, with fans expressing disappointment and anger. Many flooded the brand’s official accounts and Meng Jia’s social media with comments such as, “Why invite her if she’s not allowed in?” and “You did nothing wrong—you don’t need to blame yourself.” Some even described it as a “major operational failure” and called on the brand to issue a public apology.
As of now, the brand has yet to respond to the controversy.
