Anita Yuen earns a Best Actor nomination at the Asian Arts Film Festival for OMG! Mom’s Big News

(Kuala Lumpur, March 30) Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen has earned a Best Actor nomination in the Pioneer Wave section at the 2026 Asian Arts Film Festival for her performance in the Malaysian comedy film OMG! Mom’s Pregnant, marking another milestone for the production.

The festival will take place from May 19 to 22 in Macau. This year’s edition features five major competition sections, including the Golden Petrel Awards Main Competition, Pioneer Wave, Rural Chronicles, Auteur Cinema, and Jury Selection. An international screening program will also celebrate films with strong artistic vision and humanistic depth.

In the highly competitive Best Actor category under the Pioneer Wave section, Anita Yuen will compete alongside international talents such as Jesús Catalino (Argentina), Rio Yamashita (Japan), Lan Yingying and Zhang Xiaoang (China), as well as Mehazabien Chowdhury (Bangladesh), highlighting a diverse and global lineup.

Producer Frederica Tang shared that she immediately informed Yuen upon receiving the nomination news and expressed excitement in sharing the achievement with Malaysian audiences. “OMG! Mom’s Pregnant is a heartfelt and relatable story. Anita Yuen brought to life the emotional complexity of an older expectant mother—from fear and conflict to joy and resilience—encouraging audiences to reflect on family and love.”

She added that, if schedules permit, she plans to attend the awards ceremony on May 21 at The Londoner Macau, alongside the team, to witness this important moment. She also hopes to collaborate again with the director in future projects.

Director Jason Chong expressed pride in Yuen’s nomination, noting that the film’s warm and realistic storytelling captures the emotional depth of family relationships, while Yuen’s performance stands out as one of her most significant in recent years.
