On April 1, following the Phoenix Suns loss to the Orlando Magic, the Western Conference playoff picture became clearer, with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets officially securing playoff spots.
The Nuggets’ qualification is mathematically decisive. Even if they lose all remaining six games, they would finish with 48 wins. The Suns, even with a perfect finish, can only match that total. However, Denver holds a 3–0 head-to-head advantage, meaning Phoenix cannot surpass them in the standings.
As a result, the Denver Nuggets become the fourth Western Conference team to clinch a playoff berth.
Notably, this marks Denver’s 8th consecutive playoff appearance, the second-longest active streak in the NBA, behind only the Boston Celtics.
After winning their first NBA championship in 2023, the Nuggets have remained competitive, though their playoff runs in the past two seasons have not reached the same heights.
