On April 1, the European playoff finals for World Cup qualification concluded, with the final four tickets going to the Czech Republic national team, Turkey national team, Sweden national team, and Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

The biggest shock came as the Italy national team were eliminated, marking their third consecutive absence from the World Cup.

With this, all 16 European qualifiers are confirmed. Twelve teams advanced directly, while four secured their spots via playoffs.

In intercontinental playoffs, the DR Congo national team defeated Jamaica national team, completing Africa’s list of 10 qualified teams.

Out of the 48 World Cup spots, 47 are now confirmed, with one remaining. The final berth will be decided between the Iraq national team and the Bolivia national team.

Overall, Italy’s absence stands as the biggest storyline, while the expanded format promises a more diverse and competitive tournament.
