Wang Manyu Sweeps Akula 3–0 as All Six Chinese Women Advance to Macau World Cup Round of 16

On April 1, during the third round of the women’s singles group stage at the 2026 Table Tennis World Cup in Macau, China’s Wang Manyu delivered a dominant 3–0 victory over India’s Sreeja Akula, securing her second consecutive win and advancing confidently into the Round of 16.

With this result, all six Chinese players — Sun Yingsha, Chen Xingtong, Wang Yidi, Kuai Man, Qin Yuxuan, and Wang Manyu — have all progressed to the Round of 16 with perfect 2–0 group stage records, underlining China’s continued dominance in women’s table tennis.

The match, however, was not without its challenges. In the opening game, Wang trailed 4–6 before adjusting to Akula’s unconventional playing style. She responded with a five-point surge to take control and eventually claimed the game 11–8. Reflecting on the start, Wang noted that adapting to such a unique opponent required patience and in-game adjustments.

In the second game, Wang established an early 8–3 lead. Although Akula fought back to close the gap, Wang maintained composure at crucial moments, sealing the game 11–7 to move 2–0 ahead.

By the third game, Wang had fully adapted and unleashed her attacking rhythm. After briefly falling behind, she produced a remarkable nine-point run to close out the match 11–3, completing a straight-games victory.

Post-match, Wang expressed satisfaction with her overall performance, highlighting strong execution in both tactical planning and on-table control.

Looking ahead to the knockout stage, which adopts a best-of-seven format, she emphasized that all qualifiers are in top form and vowed to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming challenges.

With all six Chinese players advancing flawlessly, the team enters the knockout stage in commanding form — but the real test is only just beginning.
