(Hong Kong, April 5) Actor Lee To-yu, best known for his role as the strategist “Chan Yiu” in the iconic Young and Dangerous film series, has passed away at the age of 58. The news was confirmed by his close friend and fellow actor Ng Chi-hung.

Reports suggest that Lee suffered a fatal injury after falling while intoxicated and hitting the back of his head. Ng confirmed that Lee underwent surgery for a brain hemorrhage but ultimately did not survive.

Born Lee To-yu (also known as Lee To-yu), he was part of TVB’s fifth artist training class and began his career in the 1980s. Known for his distinctive presence, he frequently portrayed triad-related roles.

His breakthrough came in 1996 with Young and Dangerous, where his portrayal of the calm and strategic “Chan Yiu” left a lasting impression. He reprised the role in multiple sequels, becoming a memorable figure in Hong Kong cinema.

After the 2000s, Lee gradually stepped away from acting to pursue business ventures. His final film appearance was in My Wife Is a Gambling Maestro (2008).

In 2023, he briefly returned to the screen with a guest role in the TVB drama Queen of the Night, produced by Wong Jing.
