Alan Osmond, Member of the 1970s Hit Family Band, Passes Away at 76

(Salt Lake City, April 23) Alan Osmond, a member of the iconic 1970s family group The Osmonds, has passed away at the age of 76, leaving the music world in mourning.

According to a family spokesperson, Alan passed away peacefully on Monday night (April 20), surrounded by his wife Suzanne and their eight sons.

Alan had stepped away from the music industry over 40 years ago after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but he remained deeply involved in charitable work throughout his life.

Born into a devout Christian family, Alan was the third child in the Osmond household. Despite early medical concerns—after his two older brothers were born with hearing impairments—his parents chose to continue having children, ultimately raising six sons and one daughter, all of whom went on to achieve remarkable success in entertainment.

In the early days, Alan formed a quartet with his brothers Wayne, Merrill, and Jay. Later, younger brothers Donny Osmond and Jimmy joined the group, solidifying The Osmonds as a major musical act. Their sister Marie Osmond debuted in 1973 and quickly rose to fame alongside Donny as a sibling duo.

In 1976, the family launched the popular television show “Donny & Marie,” with Alan and his brothers frequently appearing. The Osmonds became a household name across America, often compared to The Jacksons.

Following the news of his passing, his brother Merrill released a statement in tribute, while Donny and Marie also shared heartfelt messages on social media, remembering Alan as a caring and protective figure throughout their lives.
