Rising 18-year-old actress Huang Yang Tiantian, who gained fame from Wu Fu Lin Men, has spoken publicly for the first time about the “earring controversy.” She described the incident as a harsh lesson that forced her to grow up overnight under intense public scrutiny.
She explained that the situation began during a high school event, when she casually wore a pair of earrings to match her outfit, unaware they would later be mistaken for a luxury item. This misunderstanding sparked speculation about her family’s wealth and even led to allegations involving her father, a former civil servant. She admitted that as a public figure, she should have been more cautious.
The controversy erupted just 15 days before her college entrance exams. She recalled trembling upon learning how widespread the situation had become, feeling both disbelief and guilt for being unable to protect her family. Her parents chose to stay silent to shield her, while her younger brother faced difficulties at school.
As the situation escalated, she endured severe online harassment, including edited images, personal attacks, and even inappropriate AI-generated content. Despite ongoing filming work, she continued to receive abusive messages, and even ordinary photos were misinterpreted as “provocative.” She said she could only cope by maintaining a positive mindset.
Although official investigations eventually cleared her name, the emotional impact remains. “Defending your rights is difficult, but spreading rumors is easy,” she said. She still receives harassing calls and messages, and admitted that constant accusations once made her question herself—turning the experience into a heavy and defining moment of adulthood at 18.
