Kroos Backs Mbappé: He Was the Best in El Clásico, Not to Blame for UCL Exit

[LiveBar, May 14] In the recent El Clásico, although Real Madrid lost 3-4 to Barcelona at home, Kylian Mbappé’s hat trick was nothing short of spectacular. German midfielder Toni Kroos discussed the match on his podcast Einfach mal Luppen, where he praised Mbappé’s performance.

“I think the MVP of the match was Mbappé,” said Kroos. “The best player doesn’t always have to come from the winning team. If you score three goals and constantly pose a threat, you’re the best in my view.”

Kroos also acknowledged Mbappé’s early-season struggles at Real Madrid: “It was tough for him at first — joining Madrid with such high expectations is never easy. The first two months were challenging, but he has responded well. His recent goals are not just luck.”

Regarding Real Madrid’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League, Kroos defended his teammate: “It’s not Mbappé’s fault. He has made huge progress and deserves recognition for that.”
