South Korean Navy Anti-Submarine Patrol Plane Crashes: Three Bodies Found, Cause Under Investigation
A South Korean Navy anti-submarine patrol aircraft crashed on May 29 in a mountainous area of Nam-gu, Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province. The accident occurred seven minutes after the plane took off, and three of the four crew members have been confirmed dead, with their identities yet to be verified. The cause of the accident is still under investigation as the scene was engulfed in intense flames.
At around 1:43 PM local time on May 29, the U.S.-made anti-submarine patrol plane belonging to the South Korean Navy took off from Pohang Air Base for a training mission but crashed shortly after in the nearby mountains. Witnesses reported seeing massive flames and thick smoke at the scene, with three bodies already discovered and one person still missing. The military and relevant authorities are conducting investigations and handling the aftermath.
