Cambodia “Retaliates in Kind” by Limiting Thai Citizens’ Stay to 7 Days

On June 8, 2025, the Cambodian Immigration Department announced that, in response to Thailand’s decision to shorten Cambodian citizens’ permitted stay in Thailand from 60 days to 7 days, effective immediately all Thai citizens entering Cambodia will likewise be subject to a maximum stay of 7 days.

When this period expires, Thai nationals must complete entry procedures again and obtain a new stamp in their passports before they may continue to remain in Cambodia.

This move marks a reciprocal adjustment of immigration policies between the two countries, underscoring the tense atmosphere surrounding visa-reciprocity in the region.

Those wishing to extend their stay should contact the Cambodian Immigration Department or their nearest Cambodian diplomatic mission in advance to learn about the procedures for visa extension or switching to a different visa category.
