Trump Reveals Iran Missile Strike Detail: “They Asked If 1 A.M. Was OK, I Said No Problem”

At the NATO summit in The Hague on June 25, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had notified the U.S. in advance before launching missiles at its military base in Qatar, even “negotiating the timing” of the strike. Calling the move “very friendly,” Trump emphasized that all missiles were intercepted without causing casualties. His remarks have sparked significant attention and further highlight the complex, contradictory dynamics between the U.S. and Iran.

“We Want to Launch Missiles—Is 1 A.M. OK?”
During a press conference at the NATO summit, Trump disclosed a surprising detail: Iran allegedly contacted the U.S. before the June 23 missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. “They said, ‘We’re going to launch missiles, is 1 a.m. okay?’ I said, no problem,” Trump recounted. U.S. forces evacuated the base in advance, and all incoming missiles were reportedly intercepted.

Trump stressed that the attack caused no injuries and praised Iran’s forewarning: “They were very friendly. They warned us.”

Calculated “Proportional Response” from Iran
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement declaring the strike a response to the U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. The number of missiles mirrored the bombs used by the U.S., and the chosen target area was far from civilian zones in Qatar, underscoring Iran’s efforts to avoid collateral damage and maintain cordial ties with Doha.

The Supreme National Security Council of Iran called the action a “measured response,” reiterating Iran’s commitment to friendly bilateral relations with Qatar. Beyond military considerations, the move demonstrated Tehran’s diplomatic restraint and strategic messaging.

Trump’s Statements Stir Debate Again
Although Trump declared that the Israel-Iran conflict “is over,” he also warned that it “might erupt again soon.” He further stated he doesn’t believe Iran would resume its nuclear program. These contradictory remarks reflect both his personal communication style and the unpredictability of the current geopolitical landscape.
